A person specification describes the personal attributes desired in a potential employee. These attributes include qualifications, skills, experience, and knowledge which a candidate must possess to perform the job duties.〔 The specification should be derived from the job description and forms the foundation for the recruitment process. When writing a person specification, employers usually: #Use the job description to pick out the duties, grouping together those which are similar. #Translate duties into the abilities and skills needed to do the job.
